A longtime mission of Barrett-Jackson has been to continue to educate and grow the collector car hobby, reaching new generations in innovative ways whenever possible. At the 2022 Scottsdale Auction, Barrett-Jackson will be welcoming members of the Boy Scouts of America for an all-new initiative geared towards introducing young children to the passion and excitement within the automotive industry. All uniformed Boy Scouts will receive free admission to Barrett-Jackson’s Scottsdale Auction on Saturday, January 22, and Sunday, January 23. As part of the initiative, a select group of 100 Boy Scouts from Arizona’s Grand Canyon Council will complete their automotive merit badge on-site at the auction. While earning their badges, the Scouts will learn a variety of tasks from skilled mechanics, such as how to check a car’s oil, brakes and engine coolant, as well as how to change tires and detail a vehicle. Barrett-Jackson representatives will also speak to the young Scouts about the variety of opportunities available within the automotive industry for those who may choose that career path. All Scouts in attendance will also receive a unique Barrett-Jackson patch.

In addition to the automotive merit badge activities, Barrett-Jackson will also host a Pinewood Derby competition over the first two days of the event in the auction’s pre-staging lanes. Saturday’s competition will be amongst the Scouts themselves, while Sunday’s competition will be open to corporate entries and will serve as a fundraiser for the Grand Canyon Council.
