The Petersen Automotive Museum recently announced a new exhibit, the first Formula 1 exclusive exhibit. It is titled “Pole Position: The Juan Gonzales Formula 1 Collection,” and it displays a variety of modern F1 cars which are surrounded by 180-degree immersive video that shows the energy of the races that the cars have competed in.

There are 10 cars on display and these cars will show the stories of various drivers and manufacturers from 30 years of racing.

The list of the 10 cars on display are:

1987 Lotus 99T1994 Williams FW15D1995 McLaren MP4-101999 Ferrari F3992005 McLaren F1 MP4-202008 McLaren F1 MP4-242011 McLaren F1 MP4-262013 Ferrari F1382017 Scuderia Toro Rosso STR122018 McLaren MCL33

All the vehicles in the exhibit hailed from the Chairman of the Board of Mission Foods, which is a sponsor of the McLaren F1 team and Arrow McLaren SP INDY team, Juan Gonzalez.

The exhibit is not just informative regarding Formula 1’s history, but it will also be educational as guests have the chance to learn about extreme vehicle aerodynamics, unique materials used like soft racing tire rubber, as well as other distinct features of F1 car design and construction.

Petersen Executive Director Terry L. Karges stated, “Pole Position” is guaranteed to excite our guests, especially those who are avid F1 fans or gearheads. Seeing these cars up close and personal is a rare opportunity. Anyone who is fascinated by the mechanics of speed and aerodynamics will be entranced by this stunning display of sophisticated machinery.”

On July 24, 2021, “Pole Position: The Juan Gonzalez Formula 1 Collection” opened to the public. The exhibit will stay in the Charles Nearburg Family Gathering until June 5, 2022.
